Milostan named Office of International Programs interim study abroad director
Joe Milostan has been named interim study abroad director in the Office of International Programs.
Working at K-State as an advisor since 2009, Milostan was appointed assistant director of the office in 2012. Milostan has assisted faculty and staff in the College of Architecture, Planning & Design, the College of Business Administration and the College of Engineering to determine their best options for their faculty led and/or student study abroad initiatives.
"I'm very happy that Joe has accepted the position of interim director," said Marcelo Sabatés, Office of International Programs associate provost. "The Study Abroad Office has shown an upward trajectory over the past few years with significant results and Joe has the right skill set to continue our progress."
"I enjoy working with the students at K-State and motivating them to incorporate an international experience into their curriculum and studies," Milostan said. "I am excited to continue working with our professional study abroad staff and appreciate our previous study abroad director, Karli Webster, for creating a good team environment to move forward internationalization objectives set forth in the university's 2025 plan."
Before joining K-State, Milostan worked as the study abroad outreach coordinator at Western Michigan University. He received his bachelor's degree in English at Michigan State University, where he capitalized on international opportunities to explore his family roots in Poland as well as earning his TESOL certificate and teaching English to business classes for two years in Spain. He earned his master's degree in international education at the SIT Graduate Institute, where his final capstone project was creating an international internship program designed for students to intern in Australia for the summer.
A national search for a permanent director will start in the next few months with an expected appointment date of January 2016.
