K-State Inline Hockey Club going to nationals again
The K-State Inline Hockey Club braved the snow and traveled to St. Louis, Missouri Saturday, Feb. 28, for the Great Plains Regional Playoffs.
The team had finished the regular season in third place, which was good enough to get a first-round bye. We drew St. Louis University, the second-place team, as our opponent. We beat them 7-4 to set up a match with No. 1, Illinois State University. This was quite an intense battle of two very determined teams. Regulation ended in a 4-4 tie, with Illinois State University winning in overtime.
For the third year in a row, we returned to Manhattan with the Great Plains runner-up trophy. We also qualified for the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association national invitational tournament, which will be April 8-12 at the Independence Events Center in Independence, Missouri. This is our fourth year in a row and sixth time qualifying for this tournament. We look forward to representing K-State once more on the national stage.
