Application deadline extended for inaugural Dissertation Writing Retreat
The deadline for applications to the inaugural Dissertation Writing Retreat has been extended until noon Monday, April 6.
As previously announced, the Writing Center is hosting its first Dissertation Writing Retreat during the May 2015 intersession. Scheduled to run May 18-22, the retreat is sponsored by the Department of English, the Graduate School, K-State Libraries and the offices of the president and provost.
The purpose of the retreat is twofold. First, it will give doctoral candidates time and space to write in a supportive atmosphere among other writers who are pursuing similar goals. Second, it will promote effective writing practices, which include talking about one's work with others and writing daily for a solid amount of time.
Participants should expect to write for five hours each day of the retreat and to reflect on their goals and progress with their peers. They also will meet in brief daily conferences with Writing Center staff, who will offer feedback and encouragement. With support from its sponsors, the retreat will provide coffee, breakfast snacks and lunch so that participants can concentrate on writing.
Please see the earlier announcement for information about eligibility, the selection process, and the anticipated retreat schedule.
