New peer financial counselors, student advisory members for Powercat Financial Counseling
Powercat Financial Counseling recently selected peer financial counselors for the 2015-2016 year. Peer financial counselors assist students with their financial questions and college financial planning decisions, as well as provide free financial workshops and events for student groups, living units and classes.
The 11 new peer financial counselors include:
Lindsay Adams, sophomore in personal financial planning, Clay Center; Allison Becker, freshman in personal financial planning, Lancaster; D’Aonda Bush, junior in finance, Wichita; Ashley Ebeck, freshman in accounting and finance, Paola; Shari Humbard, sophomore in accounting, Junction City; Nolan Keim, freshman in personal financial planning and accounting, Sabetha; Kristen Payne, junior in personal financial planning, Lyndon; Hillary Williams, sophomore in accounting and finance, Salina; and Brett Zapletal, junior in finance, Manhattan.
Five peer financial counselors from the 2014-2015 year are returning and include: Camila Haselwood, master's student in personal financial planning, Manhattan; Brady Heidrick, junior in accounting and finance, Olathe; Doni Lee, senior in finance and entrepreneurship, Salina; Miranda McMahon, junior in personal financial planning, Burton; and Jillian Taylor, junior in accounting and Finance, Hays.
Christyne Stephenson, master's degree student in marriage and family therapy, Manhattan, will return as the graduate research assistant for Powercat Financial Counseling for Fall 2015.
Joining the Powercat Financial Counseling Student Advisory Board will be 17 new students. They will be responsible for marketing the financial services of Powercat Financial Counseling to fellow students and hosting interactive financial events throughout the year such as the annual "Spring Break Not Spring Broke," "Thrifty Gifting," "Eating Healthy on a Budget" and "Marriage & Money" events. They also help promote the free online financial tool, SALT, created by American Student Assistance and sponsored by Powercat Financial Counseling accessed at www.saltmoney.org.
