In conjunction with the graduation ceremonies May 16, the College of Business Administration recognized 33 graduating seniors for achieving Professional Advantage Certification.
The certification is provided by the college's Professional Advantage program, which is designed to give K-State business students a competitive edge for future success. Students receive training designed by industry professionals who seek to hire students who are prepared for a business career and understand how to live and work in a global environment.
More than 1,600 students participated in the program this academic year, learning skills and professionalism from more than 50 different companies, such as how to interview, network and communicate in a corporate environment.
"It is exciting to see the professional growth of students as they move through the program," said Olivia Law-DelRosso, director of the Professional Advantage program. "Students are learning directly from industry professionals and recruiters exactly what they should do to be successful in their business careers."
Students can earn points throughout their time in the college by attending different lectures, workshops and events. Those who reach 32 points by graduation are recognized on their transcript, resumes and at graduation as Professional Advantage Certified. This year, students completing the academic year requirements earned professional awards courtesy of GTM Sportswear, including a professional notebook, padfolio, business card holder and garment bag.
"The support of student development from companies such as GTM Sportswear, and partnerships across campus are what makes the program successful," said Law-DelRosso. "This training, combined with Executive Mentors and the upcoming Career Coach program provide students a clear path to success."
