Kansas State University online engineering, education programs ranked among best for veterans
Two Kansas State University online programs rank among the best for military service members.
U.S. News & World Report's recent ranking of best online programs for veterans puts the university at No. 17 for best online graduate engineering programs and No. 78 for best online graduate education programs. The report bases the rankings on program reputation, faculty credentials and retention rates. Ranked institutions must also be certified for the GI Bill and participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program.
"For more than 60 years, Kansas State University has provided educational options and resources to support the unique needs of military students," said Sue Maes, dean of K-State Global Campus. "Military members and their families can complete degrees online, no matter where they are stationed or need to relocate."
The university's online engineering graduate programs can be completed without any visits to campus. Programs include online master's degrees in engineering management and operations research, as well as civil, chemical, electrical, mechanical, nuclear and software engineering.
"We offer a strong online engineering graduate program in coordination with K-State Global Campus," said Darren Dawson, dean of the College of Engineering. "To have it recognized as one of the best for our military veterans is something we take great pride in — if we can give back to these men and women who served by providing an opportunity for a quality engineering graduate degree, then we serve as well."
Online graduate degrees in education include master's degrees in academic advising, adult and continuing education, curriculum and instruction, and educational leadership. Through collaboration with nearby military installations like Fort Riley and Fort Leavenworth, which houses K-State's adult and continuing education program, military students have even more opportunities to attain their degree.
"The College of Education has a proud heritage of serving those who have served our nation," said Debbie Mercer, dean of the College of Education. "The fact that veterans find value in our online programs is extremely meaningful as we are excited that their rich life experiences and academic background will serve the nation in a new way."
