Join the Movement Sept. 13
Submitted by Human Capital Services Benefits
Are you looking for ways to get active in your daily routine? Or are you already active and would love to have that extra push to be more active? Join your peers in the K-State Movement Challenge.
K-State is encouraging its community to commit to a total wellness journey — striving to live your best in the many areas of your life. Kicking off on Sept. 13, the K-State community will focus on physical wellness as it embarks on a Movement Challenge.
The challenge is two-fold, a personalized challenge for individuals to move an equivalent of 10,000 steps per day, or work up to 10,000 steps for those who are currently less active. The second part of the challenge is a competition between departments. The department with the most average steps per participant will be the Movement Challenge Champions and receive a trophy, bragging rights and a presentation of the award.
No sign up is necessary. Just start tracking your movement and log in the eReport that will be posted on the HCS website and the Live Your Best, #PurpleIsProgress website. The eReport will be live the Sunday following each week and will remain active through noon Tuesday. For the first week, Sept. 13–19, the eReport will be open Sunday, Sept. 20, to noon Tuesday, Sept. 22.
There are several ways to track activity toward steps. Human Capital Services has pedometers available at no charge, discounts have been procured at several local businesses and an activity converter is available to convert different activities — swimming, biking, gardening, etc. — to steps.
Please join your fellow K-Staters and take part in the challenge! To learn more, visit the Live Your Best, #PurpleIsProgress website.
