Graduate Student Council hosts professional development events

The K-State Graduate School Council is hosting two professional development events for graduate students. These events are great opportunities for graduate students to learn about networking and to practice their skills before attending professional conferences and interviews.
"Building Your Professional Network" will be from 3:30-5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, in the Big 12 Room in the K-State Student Union. The event will feature guest speaker Rebecca Robinson, director of economic development for the K-State Institute of Commercialization. This event will focus on building and maintaining your professional network in various contexts. Topics covered during the session will include creating an online professional profile, utilizing social media to build your professional network, networking in person at conferences and other professional events and how to use business cards for networking.
Networking and Etiquette Dinner will be from 4:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, in the Alumni Center. The dinner will feature guest speaker Keira Mann. This event will include a networking session, three-course meal and an opportunity to practice proper dining etiquette. The cost for students is $20 and is nonrefundable. RSVP online no later than Thursday, Oct. 1.
