Voluntary surveys to access K-State's ongoing efforts in equal opportunity and access
Kansas State University is subject to certain nondiscrimination and affirmative action record keeping and reporting requirements in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 — as amended — and applicable civil rights laws and regulations.
In order to comply with these laws, K-State will soon invite employees to voluntarily self-identify their disability status, veteran status and race/ethnicity. Submission of this information is voluntary and refusal to provide it will not be used against employees in any way. The information obtained will be kept confidential and may only be used in accordance with the provisions of applicable federal laws, executive orders and regulations, including those that require the information to be summarized and reported to the federal government for civil rights enforcement purposes.
As stated above, the surveys will be voluntary and employees are not obligated to identify whether they are a person with a disability, their racial/ethnic background or whether they are a protected veteran. However, we do hope employees will choose to fill these forms out to help K-State measure how it is doing at providing access and equal opportunity to all.
The surveys will be sent early next week. If you have questions about the forms, please email the Office of Institutional Equity at equity@k-state.edu or call 785-532-6220.
