Be prepared for winter weather and stay connected with university notifications

The National Weather Service has declared today, Dec. 1, Winter Weather Awareness Day — a good reminder to prepare for winter weather and sign up for K-State Alerts. The university uses the K-State Alerts system to notify students and employees of university emergencies including Declarations of Inclement Weather.
K-State Alerts quickly sends notifications by text message, email and automated phone call. Employees and students also may check the university's home page, Twitter, Facebook or local media for closures information.
As noted in the Nov. 13 K-State Today announcement, K-State Alerts will no longer send notifications for severe thunderstorms, but users will receive messages that provide severe weather alerts affecting campuses, such as road closings or class cancellations.
To receive emergency notifications K-Staters must enroll in K-State Alerts through the eProfile system. Only current faculty, staff, and students with an active K-State eID are eligible to sign up for text messages and phone alerts. Eligible K-Staters can add contact information for parents, children and spouses when they sign up.
