Science on Tap: Life in extreme environments
Held in a relaxed setting on the fourth Wednesday of the month — January through April — Science on Tap features a brief, informal presentation by a K-State scientist followed by lively conversation. The goal is to build our community's enthusiasm for science in a fun and unique way. Science on Tap is organized through a partnership with the College of Arts & Sciences, Sunset Zoo and Tallgrass Tap House.
This month's featured topic is life in extreme environments. Michi Tobler, assistant professor in the Division of Biology, is all about the natural world. Tobler received his doctorate from the University of Zurich in Switzerland. Over the past 15 years, his research has focused on how organisms thrive in extreme environments. The real bread and butter of Tobler's efforts are his investigations of fish species and how they manage to survive in springs and caves so toxic that they are lethal for most other forms of life.
The free, interactive program begins 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Tallgrass Tap House, 320 Poyntz Ave. Be sure to let the Tap House staff know you are there for Science on Tap.
Other upcoming dates:
Wednesday, Feb. 24

Note that each Science on Tap will feature different topics so community members will learn something new each time they attend.
