University Advising Committee offers professional development grants

Submitted by Steven Dandaneau

The University Advising Committee invites applications for its spring professional development grants.

Up to five awards of $700 are available to support K-State faculty and staff who wish to participate in an academic advising professional development opportunity — e.g., attend a NACADA or other type of advising conference, present research with relevance to advising, and etc. Applications should clearly identify the professional development opportunity, what is expected to be gained from participation, and include a budget.

Concise applications — one-to-two pages — are welcome. Applications should be submitted by email, with one's supervisor copied, to Steven Dandaneau at dandaneau@k-state.edu by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5. A selection committee composed of University Advising Committee members Leena Chakrabarti, Brad Cunningham, Tanya Gonzalez and Carla Jones will endeavor to announce selections by Feb. 12.

University Advising Committee professional development grants are the result of student success funds directed for this purpose by the Office of the Provost and the Office of the Vice President for Student Life, and are intended to help support and strengthen the vitally important K-State advising community. Please direct questions to Jones, cjones@k-state.edu, or Dandaneau, dandaneau@k-state.edu, who co-chair the committee.
