Corrective Action of University Support Staff for supervisors session offered Feb. 18

Corrective Action for University Support Staff, WTD186, will be offered from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, in the Edwards Hall commons area.

This module introduces the concepts of positive discipline and its application on the job. Positive discipline is a systematic approach to correcting job-related deficiencies and/or inappropriate behaviors. It emphasizes the supervisor's role as coach and places the responsibility for improvement on the employee.

As a result of this session, participants will:

  • Identify the most common disciplinary problems that supervisors face.
  • Understand university guidelines and the four step discipline procedure.
  • Conduct effective coaching sessions with an employee and refer employees with personal problems to an employee assistance program.
  • Respond with confidence to the formal appeal of a decision to suspend, demote, or dismiss.

This course is offered in conjunction with the Introduction to Supervision,WTD077, series therefore seating is limited.
