Reminder: Expressions of Diversity Initiative Group's Canvas of Diversity deadline
Submitted by La Barbara James Wigfall
Canvas of Diversity is an initiative tied to the Cats for Inclusion campaign. Cats for Inclusion originated as a student-led movement to advance racial justice, diversity and educational equity at K-State. The Expressions of Diversity Initiative Group invites faculty, staff, administrators and students to submit a 36-by-48-inch art piece that creates a deeper understanding of what justice, multiculturalism, or diversity means to our community.
We hope to receive expressions from individuals, student organizations, administrative offices and community groups. We are accepting prose, poetry, film, print, graphic design, paint, pencil and ink, charcoal and any layered mixed medium on black, gray, or white foam-core board.
Submit your artwork from 1-5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, in the Multicultural Student Organizations Office in the K-State Student Union. Please don't forget to bring the exhibition agreement and your paragraph describing the meaning of the expression in order to be considered for this competition.
If you have any questions, contact La Barbara James Wigfall at lbjw@k-state.edu or find more information online.
Following review of the artwork, the Expressions of Diversity Initiative Group will digitally upload each art piece on the Cats for Inclusion website, and mount the original artwork for exhibit on the Union's first floor construction walls. We encourage your written or graphic response of the exhibit on strategically placed chat walls near the exhibit. Competition winners will be notified before the exhibit opens Feb. 29.
