Chinese embroidery inspires student exhibit opening at K-State Student Union
"Naturally Refined: Sustainable Fiber" art exhibit by Lushan Sarina Sun opens Monday, March 5, in the Kemper Art Gallery on the first floor of the K-State Student Union. The exhibit, which continues through March 23, features Sun's master of science design research project in apparel and textiles.
The exhibit is inspired by Chinese embroidery, Shibori and natural dye art, Sun said. Shibori is a Japanese term for methods of dying cloth with a pattern using binding, folding, twisting, stitching and compression.
Sherry Haar, associate professor of apparel, textiles and interior design, is Sun's adviser.
The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
