Friday First-Gen Focus
This week's installment of Friday First-Gen Focus is another student story, this one titled "Dissolving Stereotypes," featuring Kris Bailey. As with last week's feature of Helen Neguyen, "Dissolving Stereotypes" is a segment from the College of Education's "A Walk in My Shoes" series, which includes this film on first-generation students as well as films on military life and international students among many other films of interest to K-Staters.
If you have six minutes, listen to Bailey describe his experience at Sumner Academy of Arts & Science in Kansas City, Kansas. Bailey reflects on the importance of mentors for first-generation students — and not just for first-gens, of course. Turns out, he wants to mentor others if he can.
