Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A helps Phi Eta Sigma national honorary raise funds for cancer research

Submitted by Mandi McKinley

Join Phi Eta Sigma, K-State's first-year national honor society, to help raise funds for the Johnson Cancer Research Center. Spirit Night will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, at Chick-fil-A.

A portion of all sales during that time will be donated to the Johnson Cancer Research Center.

In addition, Chick-fil-A is sponsoring an opportunity to win a $50 Chick-fil-A gift card, good at any location, and all donations will go directly to Johnson Cancer Research Center.

The partnership between Phi Eta Sigma and Chick-fil-A Manhattan comes from a shared commitment to cancer research. Phi Eta Sigma has focused fundraising efforts in support of the Johnson Cancer Research Center for several years. Cancer research is important to Chick-fil-A's co-owner, Cheryl Hamel, whose family recently lost a close relative to cancer.

Phi Eta Sigma thanks Cheryl Hamel and Chick-fil-A for their generosity in hosting Spirit Night and for their donation to the Johnson Cancer Research Center.

Phi Eta Sigma membership is open to K-State students who have achieved a 3.5 or higher GPA in their first semester at K-State enrolled as a full-time student. Learn more about Phi Eta Sigma online.

At the Johnson Cancer Research Center, the fight starts here. From nanoparticles and stem cells to antioxidants and drug discovery, Kansas State University faculty are conducting the basic and translational cancer research that leads to improved prevention, diagnostics and treatments, as well as training future scientists.
