Associate dean for multicultural affairs at Southwestern University to present on campus April 13-14
In a collaborative spirit, the women's studies department and the Office of Diversity welcome Terri Johnson, assistant dean for multicultural affairs at Southwestern University, Texas, to share her expertise on diversity matters.
Johnson will facilitate a workshop for K-State student leaders at 5 p.m. April 13 in the Leadership Studies Building's Town Hall.
Johnson also will deliver a public talk, "This is for Real: What's Going on With Diversity," 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14, in 123 Leadership Studies Building. The talk will cover critical issues of advocacy for social, political and economic equality. She will integrate personal and professional practices of diversity to discuss intersectionality and microaggression realities encountered or sidestepped in work on diversity.
The workshop is one of the series of initiatives Zelia Wiley is undertaking in the Office of Diversity together with the Student Governing Association and the Black Student Union in the campaign to make K-State a more inclusive institution.
