Agronomy professor invited to participate in international food security workshop
Chuck Rice, university distinguished professor of agronomy and Mary L. Vanier university professor, was invited to participate in a workshop on "Food and Nutrition Security Challenges for the Americas" Sept. 18-19 in Mexico City.
The workshop was organized by the Mexican Academy of Sciences, the Inter-American Network of Academies of Sciences, the InterAcademy Partnership, and the German National Academy of Sciences, Leopoldina.
Workshop participants included scientists and experts from 22 countries of the Americas. The main goal was to establish a common template for the production of a country-by-country assessment of the challenges and opportunities faced by the countries of the Americas in ensuring food and nutritional security over the next 50 years.
