Faculty member receives two excellence in advising awards in one semester
Teresa Northern Miller, associate professor of educational leadership in the College of Education, has been selected for two excellence awards this semester.
Miller was chosen for the College of Education Excellence in Advising Award for 2011-2012. The award recognizes faculty members who have demonstrated a significant commitment to advising and an ability to foster and encourage student growth. Nominated by a student, Miller wanted to recognize all students’ efforts in return.
“My students are full-time practitioners in education, who are taking courses on top of heavy public school and family obligations. I want my efforts to be as strong as theirs,” she said.
Miller was also chosen for the 2012 Division of Continuing Education Outstanding Adviser. This award is in recognition of efforts to provide the best possible communication to K-State distance students. David Thompson and Mary Devin, both in the department of educational leadership, nominated Miller for her efforts to make certain each student is individually cared for and nurtured through the system. The award will be presented at the Division of Continuing Education's Honors and Awards Reception on May 1.
