Center for Engagement and Community Development Engagement Brown Bag series continues Nov. 4

Submitted by David Procter

The Center for Engagement and Community Development continues its fall 2016 Brown Bag Engagement series from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, in 247 Leadership Studies Building. This week's topic will be voter readiness.

During this election season, K-State's Institute for Civic Discourse and Democracy has worked with local campus and community organizations to increase voter registration and public discussion of critical issues. Riley County Young Voters, the League of Women Voters, K-State's Student Governing Association, Alpha Kappa Alpha and students in communication studies courses are some of the participants in this effort. The discussion will highlight what was accomplished from these efforts, along with the way forward for post-election civic engagement.

The Brown Bag Engagement sessions highlight diverse examples of K-State projects that illustrate community-engaged scholarship. They describe participatory research skills, service-learning and community development activities that contribute to the mutual benefit of collaborators and stakeholders, on and off campus.

The final Brown Bag Engagement session for this semester, "Imagining America: Cultural Arts Engagement," will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, in 247 Leadership Studies Building.

All sessions are free and open to the public. For any questions regarding the series, contact the Center for Engagement and Community Development at 785-532-6868.

We hope to see you there.
