Mortar Board Senior Honor Society awards Outstanding Student Scholarships
K-State's chapter of Mortar Board has selected three winners for its Outstanding Student Scholarships.
Vaithish Velazhahan, junior in microbiology and medical biochemistry, Manhattan, received a $500 scholarship. Nicholas Bouzianis, sophomore in nutritional sciences, Topeka, and Jaiden Ochoa, freshman in psychology, Newton, were both awarded a $250 scholarship.
These awards serve to identify and reward students who demonstrate distinguished ability and achievement in scholarship, leadership and service. To receive the scholarship, the students had to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, submit an application with essay questions and go through an interview process conducted by current Mortar Board members.
Mortar Board National Senior College Honor Society was founded on the values of scholarship, leadership and service in 1918. It is composed of outstanding college seniors who are willing to continue to serve their university and its community.
