Deliberative discussion on concealed carry
Join with colleagues, friends and neighbors in a deliberative and exploratory discussion about concealed weapons on campus from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building.
The purpose of the discussion is to weigh tensions and trade-offs that don't easily fall into for/against categories. Everyone is welcome to participate, but space is limited, so please RSVP by email to KSUCampusCarry@gmail.com or on the Facebook page. Refreshments will be provided.
Timothy Shaffer, assistant professor of communication studies, teaches a graduate seminar on public deliberation and communication as well as an undergraduate course in small group discussion methods with a focus on public deliberation. Some of the students in these courses will facilitate small group conversations during this event, building on what they have been learning this semester. Students also have created the materials that will be used as resources for discussion.
This event is co-sponsored by the communication studies department, Institute for Civic Discourse and Democracy, National Institute for Civil Discourse and the Interactivity Foundation.
