Grant writing workshop helps prepare grad students, postdoctoral researchers, and new faculty to compete for funding
A grant writing workshop for graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and new faculty will be from 1-4 p.m. Feb. 16 and 2-5 p.m. Feb. 17 in Hale Library's Hemisphere Room on the fifth floor. Topics and presenters are as follows.
Day 1
- Welcome: Beth Montelone, senior associate vice president for research.
- Terminology and acronyms: Adassa Roe, grants and contracts administrator, PreAward Services.
- Process of grant writing at universities: Amy Brusk, grant specialist, College of Veterinary Medicine.
- Data and publication accessibility, including data management plans: Rebel Cummings-Sauls, director, Center for the Advancement of Digital Scholarship.
- Rules of grant writing: Mary Lou Marino, development director, Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.
- Budget and budget justification: Terri Fayle, research operations manager, College of Agriculture/K-State Research and Extension.
Day 2
- Review criteria and evaluation: Mary Rezac, professor, chemical engineering.
- Developing your objectives and goals; writing the narrative and project summary: Teresa Merrick and others from the Writing Center.
Attendance for either one day or both days is welcome. Registration is required.
