Registration for Graduate Student Three Minute Thesis Competition due Friday

Submitted by Kelsey Peterson

Do you like a challenge? How about presenting your graduate research in three minutes or less? The Graduate School announces K-State will host the second international competition Three Minute Thesis Competition or 3MT in February.

Preliminary competitions, or heats, will be Feb. 8. Top presenters from each heat will be selected by judges to move forward and compete in the final competition Feb. 16.

From the final competition, a judging panel will select the top two presenters, and a people's choice award winner will be selected by the audience. The first place presenter will represent K-State at the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools 3MT Competition in April.

The following awards will be presented in the final competition Feb. 16:

  • First place will receive a $500 scholarship and serve as K-State's representative at the MAGS 3MT competition.
  • Second place will receive a $250 scholarship.
  • The people's choice award will receive a $125 scholarship.

The final judges for the competition will be Coach Bill Snyder, Tom Giller and Usha Reddi, Mayor of Manhattan.

Registration deadline for the Three Minute Thesis is 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27
