Speaker Jed Dunham presents 'The Veterinarian's War: Lieutenant Harry Hunt in the World War'
Freelance writer Jed Dunham, founder of the 48 Fallen 48 Found Project, will present "The Veterinarian's War: Lieutenant Harry Hunt in the World War" at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, in the UMB Theater at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art.
In 1917, Kansas State Agricultural College graduate Harry Hunt followed his country into World War I and was sent to France as a large animal veterinarian tasked with caring for the beasts that pulled the guns of war. The things Lt. Hunt saw, recorded in vivid detail in the letters he sent home, describe a time often forgotten by history.
The presentation is in conjunction with the exhibition "Kansas Veterinarian at Work: A Portrait by Tom Mohr" on view through June 17.
