Manhattan Municipal Band performs with the K-State Summer Music Camp tonight
The Manhattan Municipal Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. June 13 at the Larry Norvell Band Shell in Manhattan City Park. The concert is free and open to the public.
The band will perform classic marches, popular hits, music from movies and Broadway, and feature dynamic percussion soloists. The band also will be joined by all the campers participating in the K-State Summer Music Camp for a massed band of 300 musicians. Guest conductors will include Rod Manges, Don Linn, Jay Koupal, David Betancourt and Larry Blocher.
The Manhattan Municipal Band has been a feature of the Manhattan and K-State communities for more than 95 years and performs entertaining concerts comprised of jazz, standard, classical and patriotic tunes. The Municipal Band draws participation from K-State faculty and students across all academic disciplines as well as many local Manhattan citizens and 1st Infantry Division Band Members.
The band is sponsored by the city of Manhattan and the K-State Band Program, and is under the direction of Frank Tracz.
