Research success by agricultural economics faculty, graduate students
The Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, published by the Western Agricultural Economics Association, is among the top journals publishing creative and scholarly economic studies in agriculture, natural resources and related issues. Four of the 10 articles in the April 2012 issue are written by K-State faculty, former faculty and graduate students in the department of agricultural economics.
Publications include:
Nathan Hendricks, assistant professor, and Jeff Peterson, associate professor, "Fixed effects estimation of the intensive and extensive margins of irrigation demand."
Hikaru Peterson, professor, and Linda Burbidge, doctoral graduate, "Japanese consumers’ valuation of U.S. beef and pork products after the beef trade ban."
Lance Zimmerman, master's graduate; Ted Schroeder, distinguished professor; Kevin Dhuyvetter, professor; and colleagues at K-State and in the animal health industry, "The effect of value-added management on calf prices at Superior Livestock auction video markets."
Mike Boland, former faculty; John Crespi, professor; and Tian Xia, associate professor, "Measuring the benefits to advertising under monopolistic competition."
Although just one issue and just one of many publication outlets for our faculty and students, a 40 percent K-State market share in the April issue of Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics is tremendous, according to David Lambert, head of the department of agricultural economics.
Congratulations to all for this successful K-State brand placement, or in academic terms, for this acknowledgement of the excellent research programs you have created, Lambert said.
