IMHOTEP Black Male Initiative meetings for fall 2017/spring 2018
The Office of Diversity has announced the fall 2017 and spring 2018 meetings dates for IMHOTEP, K-State's initiative to increase black male student success and retention.
The following meetings will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the K-State Student Union:
• Sept. 11, Flint Hills Room
• Oct. 2, Flint Hills Room
• Nov. 6, Flint Hills Room
• Dec. 4, Bluemont Room
• Jan. 22, Room 227
• Feb. 12, Room 227
• March 12, Room 227
• April 2, Room 227
• April 30, Bluemont Room
The IMOHTEP initiative, named after the celebrated ancient Egyptian scholar, encourages cultural engagement and community uplift, persistence and support, retention, degree completion and career/graduate school placement among the targeted demographic.
With the guidance of a faculty or staff mentor and student peer leaders, IMHOTEP participants assess long- and short-term personal and professional goals while learning the importance of community and political action and gaining a broad understanding of their intersecting cultural identities.
The Office of Diversity is committed to promoting diversity in every sector of Kansas State University. The office provides vision and leadership in diversifying all university functions as well as students, faculty, staff and the curriculum.
