'China's Rhythm and Style': K-State Confucius Institute presents cultural performance

Submitted by Shijun Yan

The K-State Confucius Institute will present its cultural performance, "China's Rhythm and Style," featuring "The Butterfly Lovers" played by the Manhattan High School Chamber Orchestra and Chinese zither, or guzheng, instrumentalist, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, in the K-State Student Union courtyard.

"The Butterfly Lovers" is a famous piece based on the tragic love story of an ancient Chinese folktale. The event also will include other instrumental performances on the Chinese zither by the teachers at the Confucius Institute. After the performance, participants can try their hand at Chinese calligraphy.

Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.
