Panel on rights and responsibilities today

Submitted by Daralyn Gordon Arata

Do you know your free speech rights? What about your rights on campus? Do you know what to do if a police officer stops you on your way home from Aggieville? How does the latest travel ban affect you? Why should you care about the DACA repeal? What are your responsibilities as a citizen?

The Pre-Law Ambassadors, in conjunction with the Office of Pre-Law Advising, will host a panel on the rights and responsibilities of citizenship at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, in the Wildcat Chamber at the K-State Student Union. The panelists will discuss voting rights and responsibilities, immigration law, student speech and hate speech on campus, and the rights and duties associated with police interactions.

The panelists include Micah Kubic, executive director of the Kansas American Civil Liberties Union; David Rubenstein, professor of law at Washburn University School of Law; Cheryl Strecker, Office of General Counsel, Kansas State University; and Jeremiah Platt, Clark and Platt, CHTD.

A time for discussion and questions will follow the presentation. This is a great opportunity to learn from experts and have your questions answered.

This event is free and open to the public.
