Physics Professor Gary Wysin presents seminar
Gary Wysin, professor of physics, presented an invited seminar on May 25 for the program of graduate physics at the Federal de Santa Catarina in Florianópolis in Brazil.
Wysin’s presentation, “Energy andDynamics of Vortices in Magnetic Nanodisks,” discussed the interest in nanodisks and how they exhibit states with a single vortex, which have a dynamics very much like that of a particle and how their potential and movement can be studied with adapted techniques of micromagnetics.
Wysin has been on sabbatical leave for the spring semester, working with Professor Wagner Figeiredo, who works in the area of statistical mechanics and magnetism. Wysin will return to K-State at the end of June.
