Taking kids to see 'Cinderella' at McCain? Enjoy a special ball beforehand
Submitted by Communications and Marketing
A special treat is available for children attending the McCain Performance Series' upcoming presentation of "Cinderella."
McCain Auditorium is hosting a children's event before Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella." Titled "The Prince is Giving a Ball," the event will be 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 20, at The Holiday Inn at the Campus, 1641 Anderson Ave., Manhattan.
The activities will include a dance, meal — hot dogs, chicken fingers, lemonade, etc. Music will be provided by Dave Lewis. Open to anyone attending "Cinderella" later that evening at McCain, tickets for the children's ball are $10 per person and can be obtained by calling 785-532-6425. "Cinderella" starts at 7:30 p.m.
As part of McCain Auditorium's mission to serve the community, the Friends of McCain board of directors and other volunteers reached out to the community to obtain sponsors to provide free tickets to the ball and the show for up to 60 foster kids and their families from the area. All 60 slots were filled.
"Although tickets to McCain Performance Series events are 50 percent off public prices for kids, we realize that even those prices can be a barrier for foster families to be able to enjoy a world-class professional touring Broadway-style musical production at McCain," said Todd Holmberg, director of McCain. "We appreciate the efforts of Flint Hills Foster Teen Camps and Royal Family Kids Camp to help us identify families with foster kids who will appreciate going to the children's ball and the 'Cinderella' production with the financial barriers removed. McCain Auditorium thanks all those that contributed services or financial support for this event."
