Memorial commemorates damage from 2008 tornado
Submitted by Communications and Marketing
A memorial east of Bushnell Hall is commemorating damage from a tornado that struck campus June 11, 2008.
The tornado resulted in major infrastructure damage and the loss of more than 200 campus trees. The trees damaged in the area of the memorial were part of a shelter belt planted between 1890 and 1900 that defined the northern boundary of campus.
Restoration of the plants, sidewalks and lighting in the area was made possible by support from alumni and friends of K-State, the College of Agriculture and the City/University Fund.
