Donors, volunteers needed for K-State blood drive
Kansas State University and the American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 10-11 in the K-State Student Union Ballroom. Blood donors and volunteers are needed for the drive.
The need for blood is constant and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community. Each blood donation can save up to three lives. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every two to three seconds and most people will need blood in their lifetime.
Learn more about the American Red Cross and schedule an appointment to donate on campus. Remember to eat iron-rich foods — steak, spinach, dark chocolate, Oreo's — before your appointment and drink plenty of good fluids, like water or juice, before donating and avoid caffeine as it dehydrates the body.
Never given blood before? Check your eligibility online.
Can't give blood? Sign up to volunteer for the K-State Blood Drive. We are looking for community members to assist blood donors throughout the donation process. Have questions? Contact Kristi Ingalls, blood drive coordinator, at Kristi.Ingalls@redcross.org.
