Embracing religious, nonreligious and spiritual diversity on campus
Students, faculty and staff at Kansas State University represent a wide variety of religious, nonreligious and spiritual perspectives. This dimension of diversity is one that is important to the university community.
The President's Committee on Religion exists to help support religious, nonreligious and spiritual diversity on campus. With that goal in mind, the committee strives to provide resources to the campus community about religious, nonreligious and spiritual beliefs and practices, to encourage appropriate religious accommodations, to help formulate university guidelines, and to coordinate activities and dialogue in a pluralistic community.
As we start this new academic year, please be mindful of the various religious holidays that might be celebrated by campus community members.
And, because conversations about different religious, nonreligious and spiritual worldviews can be challenging at times, the committee reminds the university community about K-State's Principles of Community and Statement on Free Speech and Expression.
All students, faculty and staff who are interested in being involved on this committee are welcome to contact Christy Craft, chair of the committee and associate professor in the College of Education, at ccraft@k-state.edu.
And, all are welcome to provide thoughts about the religious, nonreligious and spiritual climate on campus and ideas as to how to embrace this dimension of diversity in a way that enriches the campus community.
