Submitted by K-State Athletics
K-State Athletics Director Gene Taylor unveiled Aug. 27 the department's strategic plan and vision, centered around a student-athlete-focused mission statement and seven strategic priorities.
In addition to a mission statement centered around student-athlete welfare, the plan also includes core values and a list of seven key priorities:
- Support student-athlete success and well-being.
- Win championships.
- Provide the best fan experience in the Big 12.
- Foster a positive and inclusive department culture.
- Grow and efficiently manage financial resources.
- Encourage diversity and acceptance with all student-athletes and department staff.
- Cultivate an atmosphere of compliance.
Taylor, along with the department's senior administrative staff and department heads and assistance from global sports marketing agency Wasserman, met with every staff member, coach and selected student-athletes to develop the strategic plan and ensure the department’s goals and vision moving forward were consistent with the values of Kansas State University and K-State Athletics.
"Over the course of the last year, I met with every staff member and listened to their thoughts on where we need to go as a department," Taylor said. "Several themes were consistent across the department, which provided a great starting point for putting together our strategic priorities. My philosophy is to provide a framework for what our daily focus is and will always be, and that is what we have in this plan. Our focus will always be centered around our student-athletes and developing them in every facet of their lives while also providing them the necessary resources they need to graduate and win championships."
