New Arts and Sciences undergraduate scholarship encourages international travel

Submitted by Malorie Wagner

The Rebecca and Aaron Graham Scholarship for International Education and Understanding is a new scholarship being offered by the College of Arts and Sciences. Its purpose is to provide students with financial assistance to travel abroad.

This scholarship encourages students to deliberately and proactively engage in studies that are directly connected with people and cultures outside of the United States. The maximum award is $2,500.

To be considered for this scholarship, a student must be an undergraduate pursuing a degree in the College of Arts and Sciences. Preference will be given to students from the Midwest, but all ArtSci undergraduate students are encouraged to apply.

"This scholarship is an excellent opportunity for students in our college to step outside of their comfort zones and learn about other cultures while pursuing academic excellence in a new place," said Amit Chakrabarti, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. "The Grahams' generous donation will benefit our students enormously."

To apply for this scholarship, students should download and print the PDF application and return the hard copy to Louise Benjamin, associate dean for academic affairs, before Monday, Oct. 1. Benjamin's office is in 110 Calvin Hall.
