National Academic Advising Association webinar, Sept. 12
The first National Academic Advising Association webinar for the fall semester, "Engaging online across student populations," will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12. in the K-State Student Union Cottonwood Room.
Whether we advise students who attend all of their classes in a traditional classroom setting on campus or all of our students are online, the ways in which we communicate, relate and engage with our advisees are changing. The panel discussion with distance education experts will be a candid conversation about how we can communicate with our students using technology, how we measure the effectiveness of our communications and how we tie levels of online engagement to retention. Panelists invite participants to send questions ahead of the webinar session by emailing cherry@webster.edu.
The moderator is Tyann Cherry, senior academic advisoer at Webster University and chair of the National Academic Advising Association distance education advising commission.
Panelists include: Jennifer Varney, director of graduate student advising at College of Online and Continuing Education at Southern New Hampshire University and chair-elect of the National Academic Advising Association distance education advising commission; Kristen Betts, director of online learning at Armstrong Atlantic State University; and Robert Moody, assistant professor of advanced educational programs at Fort Hays State University.
