Submitted by Sam Bell

The College of Arts and Sciences' political science department will host Jeff Carter, associate professor in the political science department at the University of Mississippi, for the lecture "Leaders, Government Spending, and Interstate Conflict." The lecture will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, in 301 Calvin Hall.

Carter's research primarily focuses on the relationship between political leaders and interstate conflict, how governments pay for war, and state making processes. His work has been published in the Journal of Politics, International Studies Quarterly, the Journal of Conflict Resolution and other outlets. He teaches courses on interstate conflict, leaders in world politics, American foreign policy, the politics of state making, and strategic choice in international relations.
