Isidore and Hilda Dressler lecture
The lecture "The Riemann Zeta-function and Related L-functions: A Progress Report" by Kannan Soundararajan, Stanford University, will start at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, in 1073 Durland Hall.
One of the outstanding open problems in mathematics is the Riemann hypothesis and its generalizations describing the location of zeros of L-functions. While this goal appears distant, there has been a lot of progress on related questions and in some cases this had led to the resolution of long-standing problems. Soundararajan will survey some of the recent results in this area.
