Legislative Update
Happy Kansas Day. Today marks the 158th birthday of the State of Kansas. Multiple celebrations are planned in the State Capitol today to mark the day.
This is the third week of the Kansas Legislative Session. Hearings this week include a presentation from the Kansas State Board of Education and the Kansas Board of Regents on concurrent enrollments in Kansas.
Last week, Ernie Minton, interim dean of the College of Agriculture and interim director of K-State Research and Extension, presented the Annual Agriculture Report to the Senate and House of Representatives Agriculture Committees on Thursday, Jan. 24. In addition, Minton; Martin Draper, interim associate dean and interim director of research; Paula Peters, assistant director, Family and Consumer Sciences; and Art Barnaby, professor of agriculture economics, briefed the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee and the Senate Ways and Means Committee on the recently passed Farm Bill.
The Office of Government Relations hosts bimonthly Legislative Updates. Future dates include Feb. 1 and 15, March 8, 22 and 29 and April 12. All updates are brown bag sessions at noon in the K-State Student Union's Cottonwood Room.
