The Kansas Board of Regents meeting on March 20 included some items related to Kansas State University.

Introduction and reports

President Richard Myers discussed recent news and events from the university including the “Art of Democracy” engagement symposium; the inaugural day of giving — All In for K-State; K-State being named No. 2 on list of best public universities91.9 KSDB FM student awards; the Black Student Union being named best in the Big 12 for the 11th time in 14 years; and academic accolades of several members of the men's and women's basketball teams.

Discussion agenda

The Regents approved K-State's request to authorize a reduced out-of-state tuition rate to first-time, full-time domestic undergraduate students from Arkansas, California, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas.

The Regents approved student health insurance benefits and premium rates for plan year 2019-2020.

The paid parental leave policy was removed from the discussion agenda and referred back to the Council of Business Officers for reconsideration of several items. The policy will return to the Governance Committee and full board in April.
