Lora Boyer's retirement reception Oct. 2
The McNair Scholars Program will have a retirement reception for Lora Boyer, associate director of the program, from 3:30-5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in the Cottonwood Room at the K-State Student Union.
Refreshments will be served, and the K-State community is invited to honor Boyer's service and wish her well.
Boyer will be retiring from Kansas State University on Oct. 6. During her 24 years of dedicated service to students in several TRIO programs, she has provided enthusiastic encouragement to students in the achievement of their educational dreams.
Boyer began her career in TRIO at K-State in 1991 as the academic services coordinator for the Upward Bound Program. In 1994 she was promoted to assistant director of the program, before assuming duties as the assistant director of the Upward Bound Math Science Program from 1995-1996. Since 1996, Boyer has dedicated herself to guiding and leading McNair Scholars. She was first named the program’s assistant director and was promoted to associate director in 2004.
In recognition of Boyer’s commitment to educating McNair Scholars at Kansas State University, she was awarded the university’s Champion of Diversity award in January 2012. She has made significant contributions in helping underrepresented students attain their goal of pursuing doctoral degrees.
