Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony concert tonight
The K-State Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony will perform their final concerts for the semester at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at McCain Auditorium. The concert will is free to the public.
The Wind Symphony will begin the concert, performing works by Markowski, Rose, Sanström, Lauridsen and Chance. Guest conductors will be Onsby Rose, graduate from the Ohio State University and future director of instrumental music at Dordt University; and Jay Koupal, K-State doctoral student. The ensemble also will be joined by Paul Hunt, professor of trombone, as a featured soloist. The ensemble under the direction of Alex Wimmer, assistant director of bands.
The Wind Ensemble will end the concert, performing works by Bogenshutz, Daughtrey, O'Toole and Rose. Guest conductors will include Shawn Knopp, K-State doctoral student and director of bands at Tabor College; Spc. Michael Turner, conductor of the 1st Infantry Division Band; Onsby Rose; Allegra Fisher, K-State doctoral student; and Jay Koupal. Jacob Wrobel, K-State undergraduate student and future UMKC graduate student, will be a featured percussion soloist. The ensemble is under the direction of Frank Tracz, director of bands.
