K-State bands to present concerts Oct. 23 and 24
The K-State band program will present concerts in McCain Auditorium on Wednesday, Oct. 23, and Thursday, Oct. 24. Both concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. and are free to the public.
On Wednesday, Oct. 23, the Wind Ensemble will perform works by Pryor, Frantzen, Grainger, Schwarz, Bellstedt and David. They will be joined by Demondre Thurman on Gerard Schwartz's "In Memoriam" and Herman Bellstedt's "Napoli." Amanda Arrington, faculty pianist, will also be featured. The Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Frank Tracz, director of bands.
On Thursday, Oct. 24, the Concert Band and Wind Symphony will perform. The Concert Band will begin by performing works by Vaughn Williams, Markowski, Whitacre and Sheldon. The Concert Band will be conducted by graduate students Allegra Fisher, Evan Ricker and Eric Thompson, as well as Tracz.
The Wind Symphony will follow by performing works by Galante, Oquin, Galbraith and Persichetti. The Wind Symphony is under the direction of Alex Wimmer, assistant director of bands.
