Guindon, Lane co-author book on counseling profession
Two College of Education faculty members co-authored a counseling book, and four colleagues ultimately contributed to the project.
Mary Guindon, teaching associate professor of special education, counseling and student affairs, and Jessica Lane, assistant professor of special education, counseling and student affairs, wrote "A Counseling Primer: An Orientation to the Profession." Guindon published the first edition in 2011.
"I am gratified to be joined by my co-author, Dr. Jessica Lane, in writing the second edition of my text," Guindon said. "This is an expanded edition, which is not only updated but includes chapters by leading experts on seven counseling specialty areas."
Doris Carroll, associate professor of special education, counseling and student affairs, contributed to the chapter on the specialty of college counseling and student affairs, and three K-State doctoral students contributed to the chapter on the school counseling specialty.
"This was an exciting endeavor for all of us here in College of Education at K-State," Guindon said.
Lane agrees and is grateful to Guindon for the experience.
"The opportunity to work with someone so well versed in the profession and to learn from Dr. Guindon has meant a great deal — and something that's especially meaningful is her belief in me," Lane said. "She could have selected anyone, and I was lucky enough to be the one."
