Pair of Business of Sports and Entertainment Speaker Series events features KC Sports Commission, Dallas Cowboys

The Business of Sports and Entertainment Speaker Series will feature two speaker events on Thursday, Nov. 14.
First, Kathy Nelson, president and CEO of the Kansas City Sports Commission, will present in the Business Building Lecture Hall, BB 1088, at 11:30 a.m. The sports commission has attracted a number of high profile events to Kansas City, including NCAA, Big 12 and national championships. Recently, Nelson participated in the bid that landed the 2023 NFL Draft, and is currently involved in the effort to secure a game in Kansas City during the 2026 Men’s World Cup. Nelson was named as one of the Women Who Mean Business by the Kansas City Business Journal and was No. 5 on the Kansas City Star’s list of the 20 Most Influential Sports Figures in Kansas City.
At 4 p.m., Ben Fallin, senior motion graphics designer for the Dallas Cowboys, will present in room BB 1070 in the Business Building. Fallin is currently responsible for the content that appears on the screens in Cowboys Stadium, after working in a similar role for the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans.
The speaker series is organized by marketing professors Doug Walker and Janis Crow to support their MKTG630: Sports Marketing and MKTG625: Entertainment Marketing courses, as well as the college's business of sports and entertainment certificate program. All speaker series events are open to visitors and no ticket is required.
