Registration International Math Kangaroo Competition for school-age students ends Dec. 15

The Department of Mathematics will host the International Math Kangaroo Competition for school-age students on March 19, 2020. Registration is available until Dec. 15 at the competition's website.
The competition is open to all students in first through 12th grades. The 75-minute test is offered in 12 levels that correspond to school grade levels. Twenty-four questions are offered to students in grades 1-4 and 30 questions to students in grades 5-12. The challenging competition questions are selected by the International Math Kangaroo committee. Each student will receive a competition booklet, T-shirt, certificate of participation and gift. Students who earn top scores at each level of participation will be awarded gold, silver or bronze medals. Also, in each participating state, first-, second- and third-place winners will be recognized at each level.
In addition to the medals and ribbons, the national winners and the state winners are awarded certificates of excellence and gifts which include books, games, gift cards, toys, college grants and mathematical summer camps. Students who have participated in Math Kangaroo for several years with top scores will have priority with receiving grants and camps. Winners will be announced in May 2020. The participation fee is $21. Financial assistance is offered to families in hardship. Please contact info@mathkangaroo.org.
