Submitted by Jeanette Thurston
Julie McIntyre, Fulbright scholar and senior lecturer in history at the University of Newcastle, will deliver an Oz to Oz presentation on the influence and contribution of viticultural extension officers to the New South Wales wine industry at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the Town Hall in the Leadership Studies Building. Her seminar is free and open to the public.
McIntyre is using her Fulbright scholarship to understand the influence that the trans-continental connections in Australian and American expertise and practice had on the wine industry and to illuminate an unexplored aspect of American-Australian co-operation. The goal is to develop collaboration and gain insight to several key areas including, viticultural and oenological sciences, grapes and wine in society and culture, economics in connected histories, agricultural modernity, historical networks and knowledge flow and rural lives and regionality.
